Board of Trade to Foreign Office.--(Received October 29.)
Board of Trade, October 28, 1909. I AM directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 7th October, with its enclosures, relative to a suggestion of the Government of the United States that His Majesty's Government should be represented at a proposed international conference for the conclusion of an agreement to give effect to the resolutions passed by the International Opium Comunission.
In reply, I am to state that the Board do not desire to offer any observations on the subject at the present stage, beyond expressing the hope that any restrictions. affecting the manufacture of, or trade in, opium which the conference may propose will be subinitted to them for consideration before any agreement actually signed on behalf of His Majesty's Government.
